The last week has been amusing, thrilling, and shocking, until finally it simply became downright humbling. I am humbled.
I’ve been so dazed that I keep forgetting to look both ways when I cross the street. I’ve almost been hit by a car three times now.
I forgot to eat yesterday until late last night.
I’ve barely gotten any work done and that needs to change immediately.
My savior: I’m reading James Salter’s Light Years, and it’s breathtaking. It feels important that I read it at this exact moment. It’s making me feel safe inside of it. I’m really glad I have a book to hide in right now.
I don’t have much more to say about anything that happened this week. Except: I hope that everyone goes out today and buys a book – any book, I don’t care which one – from your local favorite independent bookstore. Mine’s obviously WORD Brooklyn. If you ask them nicely, they’ll pick out the perfect book for you. That’s all they want, is for you to read a good book.

Light Years is wonderful. Keep on keepin’ on …
