All week I’m going to be talking about writers I admire, and their new, awesome projects.
Today I want to talk about Julie Klam’s new book, Love at First Bark. I just read it this weekend, and it’s as charming, witty and moving as her first two memoirs. It’s a short book, and there are just three chapters, each detailing a different experience Julie had with rescue dogs. She’s so honest in her writing! And never frilly. And self-deprecating, but full of love and compassion. So many adjectives, but they are all true.
I don’t want to give any of it away, but Julie did make this great book trailer that gives you a taste of it. Basically if you like rescue dogs, or dogs, or animals, or good, funny, humane stories, you will enjoy this book. It’s a real gem.
You can buy it online here (and I bet you can request a signed copy if you ask nice), or you can come tomorrow night to Julie’s book party at WORD. I’ll be there, too, so say hi. And yes, dogs are welcome, too.
