I’m taking a blog break for the next week or so until I get some real work done over here. Here is a list of interesting literary events you should consider attending that have very little to do with me except that I support these wonderful writers.
The Largehearted Lit series features Alina Simone and Wesley Stace on June 8. Also Alina launches her book, the very funny and smart You Must Go and Win, at Joe’s Pub on June 9. (Tickets are $12.)
Kate Christensen’s book launch for The Astral, her sixth (!) book, is at WORD on June 14. I will be introducing her, and will likely be talking about this amazing essay she wrote for Elle.
Stefan Block has like eighty events in the next month for the launch of his wonderful, wise-beyond-his-years novel, The Storm at the Door, but I always think the most important reading is the very first one. He’ll be at Book Court on June 21.
(I wrote about all three of these books for CBS.com.)
Also I know Courtney Sullivan has a bunch of events coming up for her second book, Maine, none of which I can go to, sadly, but I find her very interesting and smart, and, this has nothing to do with her writing, but she has really shiny hair too. Also, if you are looking for other events, you can always check out WORD’s event calendar. Oh! And also I am reading on July 14 for the Vol. 1 Brooklyn 2nd Anniversary/Girls Write Now fundraiser.
But we can talk about that later. I have to work now.
