The Publisher’s Weekly announcement went out today, so in case you want the details, here they are:
Jami Attenberg’s THE MIDDLESTEINS, about the obsessions, foibles, and loves of an unforgettable Midwestern family on the brink of tremendous change, to Helen Atsma at Grand Central, by Douglas Stewart at Sterling Lord Literistic (NA).
I am still so giddy about it all, and was especially delighted to hear from agent and editor friends how great my new editor is.
However I am not getting any new work done, which, you know: bummer.
But I am enjoying the nice weather! Today I had a leisurely lunch with Emily Gould, who always somehow maintains the perfect balance between being fierce and a total hippie. I told her I was reading five books at once, and none of them very well, and she looked concerned. Also, I’m book hoarding right now, gathering new books up around me in stacks or moving them around the apartment and making brand new stacks or stacking them on shelves. (I’m stacking, is what I’m trying to say here.) I’m usually on the verge of something new when I engage in this kind of behavior.
I feel like I want to write a slender volume of sad, true stories next. It might not be for anyone but me though.

I love reading about foibles.
I sing ‘waiting room’ to myself whenever I’m waiting in line…
