Just a quick note to remind everyone I am reading tonight at The Strand with Sam Apple and Rachel Shukert on behalf of Jewcy.
It is my first time reading at the Strand, a wonderful, storied, independent bookstore. When Instant Love came out someone told me not to visit there – I feel like it was Goodwillie, actually, who had a book out at the same time – because it’s kind of depressing to see your book on the shelves so quickly after your book is released. (The Strand, for you out-of-towners, does a large part of its business in resale.) But I soon realized that people were selling my galleys on ebay anyway (thanks, you guys are the BEST), so why should I cut myself out of all the fun? So me and the Strand are back on again, every single one of its eighteen miles of used books. And tonight I will be reading just a little bit from The Melting Season, as well as a new essay that I think is pretty awesome. I hope you can make it out in the rain.
This is my last reading for a very long time. I’m going to host a few things this summer, but unless someone wants to pay me for my time, I’m on hiatus till the fall. I’m just writing now, that’s all. I’m just going to be quiet until I have something important to say.
