This is our idea of a good time. You have yours and we have ours.
In brief:
I drove through really intense snow and rain to Portsmouth.
I saw a ghost at the inn.
A hurricane knocked out the power at the inn, and I woke up shivering.
I ate an amazing steak. There were fried oysters on it.
I read at River Run Books. I met Michele Wilgate in person and I liked her an awful lot.
An old friend came to the reading. I hadn’t seen her in thirteen years. Since our Seattle days. She did not disappoint.
I went to Boston and was interviewed by Robert Birnbaum in a Starbucks.
I hung out with Ryan. We went to a cemetery. We played Scrabble, and he won.
Evan joined us. We went to the 50th anniversary party for Dedham’s Centre Deli at Moseley’s on the Charles. It was pretty awesome.
We made my all-time favorite tour video ever. (Watch it.)
I had brunch with my beloved cousin Lois.
I read with Steve Almond at Newtonville Books. I fucking LOVE Steve Almond. God, he killed it.
I drove through five different rainstorms to Utica, NY.
I found out there was a nice review of the book in the Chicago Sun-Times.
I sat at the hotel bar and listened to everyone make fun of the Olympics closing ceremonies. It was funnier than expected.
I ate a chef’s salad. Pickles on a chef’s salad. I don’t know about that.
Tomorrow: Oberlin.
Nighty-night.
