12/06/03: Snow Day with Cat(s)
![]() We started drinking rather early. We played music and made magnets. ![]() The ladies from next door joined us. Magnet-making clearly has a wide appeal.
![]() Later Cat and I went to this hellhole, House of Good Names.
![]() Item 1: It smelled like piss and cigarettes and body odor in there, and it was someone's apartment. There is being punk rock, and then there is being completely unhygenic. You people frighten me. Item 2: Their email said shows started at 6. I called and they said 7:30. We got there at 8:30. When we arrived a band was set up and ready to play, but for some reason the kids running the place wanted to wait until all the bands arrived. Agreed, it was a snow day, and some folks were having trouble getting there, but they should have just let the band that was already set up play. Roll with it, people. Item 3: After all the bands arrived, they decided to change the order and let someone else go on first. So then the band that was set up had to move all their shit. It was stupid. So the first band didn't start till 9:30. In the interim I was forced to take pictures of angry graffiti... ![]() ...and retarded fashion decisions. I was baffled by this one.
![]() In general, the waiting was not fun. I'd never go this place again, and I'm the first to support new music spaces in my neighborhood.
![]() After that, we took the bus and went to Moto. We met Peter Mack there...
![]() ...and Kerri, who was apparently glad to see me.
![]() We walked from Moto through the snow to a party on S. 5th. The music wasn't so hot but the space was beautiful and the people were really nice to us considering we knew no one there.
![]() We met some folks in the building and drank whiskey with them till 4 AM. I took this picture of the Williamsburg Bridge on exit.
![]() Everything looks prettier with snow.
![]() Especially the hogs.
![]() It's a full-on whiteout right now. Cracker is in love with the snow, and so am I.
