A working man.

Jon and Sam Jackson, in town from New Orleans. Today Sam gives a speech calling for the impeachment of George W. Bush

Day Six of The Kept Man Galley Giveaway and the contributions are still rolling in:

Charli, Tiger and Man (which my parents sent in and is a classic "putting stuff on animals" pic)
Redcubed's Man (which Flickr is tracking as falling outside of the safe filter but I assure you is totally safe)
and the really fantastic Wrong Way Man

Remember that you can send them to me to post if you do not have a Flickr account.

This morning I got a bunch more and I have heard there will be a big delivery later today. So awesome. Also I have heard from Matt the Marketing Guy that soon there will be STICKERS, and you know how much I love stickers.

Oh, bliss.

This weekend was slow and quiet as befits the first chilly, snowy days of the year. On Friday Jonny and I went and got a burger in Red Hook because Red Hook rules. Saturday I hung out with Cinde all day and tried to find a book party dress but nothing was suiting me. Also I spent a little time reading Josh Kilmer-Purcell's I am not myself these days which I am enjoying quite a bit. (Yes, I know I am behind the curve on this one.)

Saturday night we went to Mike Bruno's and Liz Zack's annual (except for last year) Christmas party. The last time I saw Liz she was preggers, and the last time I saw Mike he was getting drunk at a Hold Steady show, a final blast of freedom before he became a daddy. And now they have an actual smiling, giggly, happy girl who runs around making these cute little squeals. A real, whole little person. She was scrumptious.

Last night I went to Moto with Jonny and his friend Sam Jackson, who he met on the Thailand/Katrina exchange trip last year. Sam is an activist from New Orleans and he had quite a bit to say about the government corruption down there, and apparently our government up North ain't no great shakes either. Even though the story has dropped out of the headlines, things are still really messy there. Sam mentioned Unity as an organization you can directly donate to this holiday season if you would like to help take care of the good people of New Orleans.
