You think you're so smart.

The beard is back, per my request. What can I say, I kind of missed it.
Day Three of The Kept Man Galley Giveaway brought such fabulous gems as:
Ellen Forney's Art, Apartment and Man (which is NSFW I guess)
Charlie's Texas Man
and the very lovely Gear Man
Remember that you can send them to me to post if you do not have a Flickr account. Special consideration is given to pictures of small children, puppies, and rainbows. (And vaginas, apparently.)
Much thanks to ol' Lindsayism, Amy Guth, Largehearted Boy, and my sweet Wendy McClure for the internet shoutouts supporting the cause.

You know when Tao Lin isn't so busy BEING TAO LIN, he can be pretty freaking brilliant, as seen in this piece in The Stranger called The Levels of Greatness a Fiction Writer Can Achieve in America. I initially thought I was a "Used Bike on Craigslist" but it's possible I might just be a "Lost Cat" instead.

Yesterday I had proper tea with Suzy Guillette who just sold her first book, a memoir called Much to Your Chagrin: A Memoir of Embarrassment. Suzy is doing the Class of 2008 reading in February with some other people. (I've got January and February almost figured out, so I'll announce those folks soon.) Afterwards we went to the Patricia Fields store which I have never been to before probably because I am not a hooker or a tranny. Yikes. Good accessories though.
Later I went to Pete's Candy Store to see Amanda Eyre Ward read. I had never met Amanda before even though she graciously blurbed my book so I was extra excited and brought her a copy and signed it and then she was nice and showed it to people and it was just a big squishy lovefest. She rules. Also she was wearing a shiny shirt and read spectacularly well, slowly and carefully yet with all the crazy southern accents. She's just the model of stability, that one. I was really impressed with her and now I want to go to Austin to read just so I can hang out with her and be her friend.
Then Whitney and I headed to Union Pool for a final drink and a serious conversation about artistic integrity. (God I love that girl.) Outside by the fire we met two beer distributors, one of whom offered to father a child for me. I think he was Canadian.
