A glittering trail of substantive photographic and design projects behind him.

Meeting the Hovey sisters at Fette Sau

What can I tell you except that life is a daze during the holiday season. Also I've got two freelance pieces due tomorrow (which I have barely started), one tiny Modern Tonic piece due mid-week, and then I am free as a darling bird until 12/27/07. And then it will be some level of madness for a bit. I was thinking about writing some dirty short stories in the interim. (I am always thinking about writing dirty short stories.) I wouldn't mind doing another book of stories in the next few years, but I suspect no one would buy the book. Everyone wants novels, this is what I hear again and again.

Speaking of novels (I am always speaking of novels. In fact I have taken to carrying my finished book with me - oh yes I have it in my hands, a bunch of copies arrived last week in big boxes, and it is a gorgeous book - and showing it to complete strangers. It is extremely satisfying/desperate), I got some good news on the tour front. I have a sponsor at one of my readings! Yes! And it is the best kind of sponsor: food. That's right, my Brookline Booksmiths reading in Boston will be sponsored by none other than Kickass Cupcakes. Now I have never tried their cupcakes but when I said to my Boston friend Samantha Pitchel that my reading is getting sponsored by a cupcake company she immediately replied, "Is it Kickass Cupcakes? Because they are AWESOME."

OK now I am getting hungry just typing this. (I am always getting hungry while typing.) Before you know it I will have to join some Rachel Kramer Bussel cupcake cult. But just go look at their flavors! Yum.

Anyway how do I get more sponsors? This is a thrilling thing. Could I do a cupcake national tour? I wish I had some sort of obvious sponsor hook in my book but, as I always say, the dude's in a coma.

In other book-related news, there is going to be a big contest announced this very week. It will involve printing and picture-taking and free books, and that is all I can say for now. But you will hear about it very soon.
