Sit down. Listen. And then talk.

Oh we like 'em all right. We just don't like 'em when they're wearing green vests and orange ties. Then there's going to be a problem.
I am locking myself in my apartment for the next two days to do work but first a few notes:
I am reading next Monday at Brooklyn Book Court on behalf of Alone in the Kitchen with an Eggplant: Confessions of Cooking for One and Dining Alone. The book has done really well for an anthology and it's a fun read and I'm happy to be a part of it. Of course I am reading with some really funny guy and some cooking expert so I will automatically be outclassed (because fiction writers are neither funny nor experts in anything in particular), and we all know it's fun to see me outclassed! So come on down! There's more info on the lower left hand corner down there.
I saw Neil Cleary play at the Merc last night and I swear to god for the first like, six songs I thought Matthew Sweet had risen from the grave (oh he's not dead?) to give us a brand new Girlfriend. (That album was so amazing. "Evangeline"? Are you kidding me? Aw shit, now I have to go download it.) And the last maybe four or so were kind of the rockiest I've ever seen Neil and I really liked it. That guy can do anything he wants musically. Also - and this is not to diminish any of his rock and rollness - he's a total sweetheart. I think he's playing in Boston tomorrow (on behalf of his new album I Was Thinking of You The Whole Time which you can totally downlowad from iTunes ) if you're interested.
Also yesterday I had lunch with Pat Healy (BGHS Class of '89, same as myself) who is the star of Great World of Sound which is opening during the month of October in a city near you. (Even in Omaha!) It's getting amazing reviews and you should go see it. (Oh look, here's some dates.) I have been informed that beyond it being funny and charming and smart and all that, it has a Very Good soundtrack. I've got two people coming with me this weekend, anyone else want to come along? Let me know.
OK I have to stop writing this so I can start writing something else.
