Why don't you just buy a microwave?

How about that Emily Flake with her awesome review in the New York Times? I was jumping up and down for her all over the place last night. OK, now will you buy her book?

I had a brilliant time in the Hamptons. I can sort of see what all the fuss is about. It's gorgeous. We went to the beach right by the house from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and it was quiet and clean and pristine and there was a nice breeze blowing and it was instantly soothing. Megan and I walked back to Jenni's house together and oohed and ahhed at all the pretty houses we would never own. Maybe if I'm lucky someday I'll be able to afford a tool shed.

The reading was kind of crazy. Bookhampton was adorable and the people who worked there were super nice and I was glad to meet them. But there were all these kids running around! We announced the reading was kind of risque, but it didn't matter. One gentleman sat down in front with his young daughter and everytime I looked up, there she was, staring at me raptly. I'm sure she couldn't understand what I was talking about but it made me feel uncomfortable. I'm not here to corrupt the FUTURE OF AMERICA. And then another group of kids marched up just as I got to the part about buying drugs in the airport. Awesome. I totally blushed. Of course I was reading in the children's section (it's a small store), so what could you do?

Later on an older man told me that he had just been waiting for the reading to finish because we were apparently also blocking the paperback mystery section. He was nutty.

Always an adventure, out there on the road. Still I had an amazing time.

This week: last five days of midtown work, two revisions due, two new pieces due. But the following week is going to be much, much better.
