I saw the explosion behind my eyes and I slept.

I biked to Queens yesterday to see my niece and M+K and for an eggs and asparagus brunch. Bel got a new red beach chair and all she wanted to do was sit in it. Also she got a little plastic gardening set and she kept asking me for "agua" for the watering can. (Her nannny is, I think, from Ecuador so she has taught Bel how to count in Spanish, too. It's adorable.) She got kind of filthy in the mud. Also adorable. Then we sat out back for a while and had a little chat as mosquitos swarmed my calves. I asked her if she loved her mommy and daddy and she said yes, and she asked me if I had a mommy, and I tried to explain to her that her grandma was my mommy but she didn't quite get it. She can still count higher than I can in Spanish though.
I have plans only two nights this week and I'm thrilled. I'm going to stay in and write and be good and calm and quiet. A little writing angel.
