Butterflies and butter.

I realize that pictures of a standard office workspace are of interest only to me because I am used to sitting in a cafe every day. But I am still stunned on a daily basis that this is what I see all the time now. I've been making a lot of lists and havinga lot of meetings. The days pass quickly and I don't mind it.
Gapers Block did a nice review of TKM over here. It is heartening to know people are still reading the book out there.
Not much else is going on but working all the time. I have not figured out how to go home and start working on my novel. Travel time is longer because I'm at the new place which is further out, especially at night when there are no express trains. I think I'm going to have to get it all done on Sundays or the novel is just going to have to wait for a while. I have been having revelations right and left though about things I want to do with the ending. It is nice to know my brain is still working on the book even if my fingers aren't.

This morning I had a dream I was standing in the lobby of 475 Kent and my old landlord was there, holding a bottle of champagne. "It's done," he said. He offered me the champagne. I asked him what the new rent was. He whispered a number at first, about two thousand dollars more than the last rent. And then he changed it to a lower rate, and gave me a wink. Suddenly we were laying on a bed together, a bare mattress, and he had popped the champagne. His old man belly was hanging out from his shirt. I didn't think he was hitting on me, I just thought he needed to relax. "I'm not moving back in," I told him. "I've moved on." And then he hopped up from the bed and left.
I remember thinking, well he could have at least left the champagne.
