Hail to the chief.

I watched the inauguration at the Goode-Crowley Theater here in Marfa, with maybe seventy-five other people, and I was weepy. Aretha's hat ruled like no hat has ever ruled before. Folks here applauded throughout the ceremony. This is a blue town in a red state. Bright blue. Like as blue as the West Texas skies. The were showing MSNBC on the big screen. I've never watched a lot of MSNBC. Apparently Rachel Maddow is the voice of reason and Chris Matthews is a total spaz? Right? Just checking.

Anyway I totally love it here and started looking at real estate. I am not even kidding. I love the quiet and the kindness of the people. Also I love the skies at night and the skies during the day and how all the dogs are happy.

In case anyone from West Texas is reading this (ha, right), I'll be on Marfa Public Radio at 10:30 AM on Thursday. I think you can even stream it live here if you're really bored. As to the future, I would like to mention that my New Orleans date has changed. Same location (FAB Books in the French Quarter), different day. It is now Feb 7 and 7 PM. Please come join me. It will be all dirty and drunken. (The material, not me.)
